What A Clip – Meet Prudhoe’s Pampered Pooches

You can’t walk very far down Front Street without finding somewhere to have your hair done. And our canine companions are taken care of too, thanks to What A Clip.

Based just off the main street, on Banktop, Station Road, the salon sits within Prudhoe Pet Centre and is run by Aaron Gordon, who took over What A Clip in 2015.

Since then, Aaron has won the North East Grooming competition twice, attended seminars in the North East and Scotland, had training with some of the UK’s top groomers and started to show his own Scottish Terrier.

The Prudhoe Business team popped in to meet the team and its customers, which included Aaron’s own Dachshund Cross, Travis – who was enjoying his first ever groom at five months old – and a Cockapoo named Fawn, who has been visiting the salon for several years.

Aaron is joined by fellow dog groomers, Allison, who has been with What A Clip for four years, and Amy, who joined the team late last year.

Aaron told us: “We’re always really busy and we took on our third groomer Amy just before Christmas to help with demand, as we were struggling to keep up.

“I’ve always had a passion for dogs and have a history of teaching, showing and competing, and when the opportunity came up to take over What A Clip, I couldn’t turn it down. Seven years later and I love it as much as I did on my first day here.”
