Don’t mind the mess, we’ve just had a group of toddlers in,” Leanne told us when Prudhoe Business visited her studio at Marquis Court, Low Prudhoe.
But it wasn’t the balls and foam shapes that caught our eye when we walked in – it was the plethora of shiny awards, cups and trophies.
Northern Stars Dance Academy reached the That’s Showbiz National Finals at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
Leanne said: “We didn’t bring home a grand finals trophy this time but we still made it to the finals and brought home so much more. I’m not disappointed as our girls were amazing and so so powerful on stage”.
NSDA did take home semi-final and adjudicators’ choice ‘golden ticket’ awards.
Northern Stars Dance Academy offers weekly and weekend dance training and classes from toddlers to adults.
The classes and training work toward and prepare dancers for annual dance shows, local events, competitions and more. There’s a wide variety of dance classes available on weekdays and weekends as well as holiday clubs, birthday parties, discos and wedding dances.
Leanne, who has a degree in Dance Choreography specialising in contemporary dance, launched the business in 2015. She said: “Opening a dance studio has been a dream of mine since being a teenager, so its amazing that I have managed to achieve that and can share that with our local community.
“It’s been a fantastic eight years and we’re excited for what the future holds – especially after being unable to do anything during the pandemic.
“It was so good seeing all our dancers perform together again on stage after lockdown.”
NSDA also holds an annual fundraising showcase.
Leanne added: “We hold an annual dance showcase which is an opportunity for parents to watch their children perform and see how they are progressing in their dance technique and performance skills. All proceeds go towards dance recital costumes, studio equipment and other things needed to benefit the dance experience within the academy.
